Technology Description
Due to rising urbanization, cities around the world are struggling with mobility and infrastructure problems. Electric vertical takeoff and landing aircrafts, or short Airtaxis, offer a local emission free and infrastructure conserving solution to these problems. Currently many different models are under development, while only a few of them have until now suceeded in a test flight.
Current Diffusion Status
Currently the majority of the population is still unaware of these air vehicles. Next to the still remaining technical and legal challenges, the success of AirTaxis will therefore depend upon the widespread acceptance of this service by customers.
Our Research
AirTaxis: The present study is based on a data collection during the first flight of an Airtaxi in a European City on the 14th of September 2019 in Stuttgart, which will be accompanied by a large public event. Around 10.000 spectators will have the opportunity to take a seat in a Volocopter 2X and will experience an unmanned flight in downtown Stuttgart in short distance.
